MAMMOTH MAMMOTH crazy rockers are back! They have just released their forth album, a whole episode of shambles and Rock and Roll lifestyle turn into fast ,ugly and good Rock called «Hammered again» appealing right? If you are having a bad day or even if you don´t and want to have a good laugh, please have a read through our interview with the leader of the band Mikey Tucker….it is pretty much Surreal!!!
Your new album “ VOL IV: Hammered again” was released a month ago, what can you tell us about it?
MAMMOTH VOL4 ‘Hammered Again’ features ten tracks (and a little bonus track) of derailed dreams, no-chance knuckle fights, psychotic night sweats, sinner’s temptations and a jihad on morality, all washed down with a few bottles of premium grade, over-proof nihilism!
How was the recording process? Any funny anecdotes that took place in the studio?
We track pretty fast, not too many takes. Most of the work is done in long jam sessions in preproduction, That’s the fun part, it’s usually a party or a fist fight. This time around we wrote a lot more songs than usual, then cut quite a few from the list.
It’s been three years since your previous release “ VOL III: Hell’s Likely” and “ VOL IV: Hammered again”. What do you feel has changed and what has stayed the same between these two albums?
Cuz has changed his hair style. Pete has changed girlfriends. I have change drugs and Bones has changed his underwear, but only once.(Laughs)
This is your second album with Napalm Records, how do you feel with the label?
Napalm are an awesome label to work with. They get us, so we get along fine. They said they are going to buy us our own castle full of naked Haitian voodoo worshipers. So we’re waiting on that.
MAMMOTH MAMMOTH is well known for your sense of humour and reckless attitude, Is it easy to keep professional at all times? What impression do you think people have about the band?
Well, we have fun. If it wasn’t fun, why would anyone bother doing this, right!? We get a kick out of what we do, and how we do it, so in that sense being professional is very easy. That’s a no brainer. As far as impressions go: If people dig our stuff and ‘get’ it, then that’s great! If they don’t, well, that’s not our concern or our business.
You have just started your album launch shows, how has it been so far?
Pretty grouse! It’s cool to getting some gig fitness back now that we are working toward our next Europe tour. Dates should be announced very soon.
Why should we go and see MAMMOTH MAMMOTH live?
You should probably ask someone who’s seen a live show. But if we must describe ourselves then… our rock blows a hole in the sky and God and Satan take turns fucking that hole. Our live shows have also been known to kill unicorns.
What is your favourite aspect of touring in Europe? Is the audience any different form Australia?
We love the European fans. They really know how to have a good time. We find them much more free spirited that some other places. As far as touring goes, most European countries a super professional and just really cool, so that makes what we do so much easier and the tour smoother. Europe rocks!
How is the Stoner/Hard Rock scene in Australia?
It’s good. It’s solid, with some very good musicians, but as for us, we’re loners. We stay away from scenes. We’ve always been outsiders and we pretty much try not to be influenced by scenes.
Nowadays it seems impossible to live in a world without social media and all bands seems to go on it to promote and keep in touch in fans. How important is internet/social media for MAMMOTH MAMMOTH?
If it’s used well, and with respect for your fans, then it’s pretty cool.
After touring in Australia and Europe, what is next to be expected form MAMMOTH MAMMOTH?
We’re gonna move into that castle that Napalm promised us. (Laughs)
