INTERVIEW AT UP IN SMOKE :VOL VI
«There is good Chemistry between all of us, our tour is not like a wild party…but you have My sleeping Karma on board so… It can be expected»
Firstly, We Would like to thank all your time. When we found out about this tour, we couldn´t help it but to request a group interview…
MAMMOTH MAMMOTH: I know right? We are very excited about this tour too! Happy to hit Europe for the third time.
So, How this idea of touring together came up?
Decision was made by Sound Liberation, which is in our record label Napalm Records.
Fair enough, Have you played together before in the same tour or Festival?
MY SLEEPING KARMA: We have played one single show once, in a underground festival, it was a shame because We never got the time to have a drink together.
Well now that you have the chance to be touring together, How has it been?
GREENLEAF : So far is really really good.
MAMMOTH MAMMOTH: It’s been a really good fun, We are all in the same bus so it’s good!
MY SLEEPING KARMA: I think there is good Chemistry between us, is not like a wild party…but you have My sleeping Karma on board so… It can be expected (Chuckles)
What are your expectations in this tour?
MAMMOTH MAMMOTH: For us is to get as many ibols and see if it is possible, We came from the other side of the world, so any option that we get to show people what we do is great, trying to build a fan base in Europe like these guys have already.
MY SLEEPING KARMA: Presenting our new album Moksha is our first tour since we released the album. Is always good to go to foreign countries, reach new people.
GREENLEAF: We have a new album coming out next week, so We are here to promote that.
I know it is only the third day of this tour, UP IN SMOKE: VOL IV. But have you encountered any difficulties?
Yes, the mixing desk blow up last night, we they had another one which we were kind of lucky so the gig went good at the end.
The first show of the tour was sold out and so far you are doing very well..early again but…Best show so far???
GREENLEAF : Last night in Antwerp was really good, we had more than four hundred people watching us.
Any funny anecdotes that you guys would like to share with METALCRY?
MAMMOTH MAMMOTH : The toilet in the bus is getting fuller and fuller, we are all guys… let’s see what happens….( Burst into laughs)
MY SLEEPING KARMA : Last night when we took the ferry in Calais, We were told to leave the bus but Matt decided to stay inside sleeping while us we have to stay waiting in the cold. Not fair, not fair ( Chuckles)
Have a look at the tour, you guys will be playing two days, without any single off whatsoever…How are you going to cope with that?
GREENLEAF : If there is a singer in the band can we hard. But in this case the main band doesn’t so there are lucky in that sense. Days off are really expensive too, so we prefer to keep busy ourselves.
MAMMOTH MAMMOTH : For us it makes perfect sense, for us is such a long way, once you are here, you want to play as much as you can. If it was on me, we will be doing morning shows too!
MY SLEEPING KARMA : Sounds hard, but we are very lucky to have such a comfy bus, we are getting good sleep which is important.
Now I will take turns asking individual questions for the different bands playing in this turn…it is time for MAMMOTH MAMMOTH! You guys have just released a new EP this week Bloody. What can you tell us about it?
MAMMOTH MAMMOTH: We have done four albums up until here, we love playing music. And we think some bands take too long when it comes to release a new album so wanted our fans to have something new to listen to, we had four songs that we recorded while being on tour…so why not? Here it is!
Anything you like to share with us regarding recording process…
MAMMOTH MAMMOTH: Most of the songs were written on the last tour, during sound check or the bus. We have a rehearsing area in the forest side of Melbourne so we stayed there for a couple of days rehearsing the songs and the next day we went to the studio and record them all in the city.
When will we see MAMMOTH MAMMOTH again in the Europe??
MAMMOTH MAMMOTH : Hopefully, next summer, we have some festivals in mind…let’s see what happens….
GREENLEAF will be releasing a new album on Febraury 26th called Rise above the meadow…We will like to know everything about it!
GREENLEAF: It’s our second album with Arvid on vocals. We are very proud of it. The recording process was very smooth, we recorded this album in four days. We put all the instrumental bits together and after four days we recorded the vocals afterwards. We recorded everything live, it feels better, is another energy, feeling.
How would you say this album differs from the other you have previously released?
It’s very different from Trail & Passes. When we rejoined the band everything was all about seventies rock but now We have different influences such as Stoner rock and blues.
MY SLEEPING KARMA released some months ago Moksha and this is one is your first tour promoting the album. How has it been for band since the album came out?
MY SLEEPING KARMA : We have been over the moon let’s say…after we released our new album. We received a phone call from the record company saying that we entered the chart position 69, We were one place ahead of MADONNA. It felt very surreal! So now we have something to tell our grandchildren. (Laughs)
Any thoughts of releasing a new EP soon, have you been working in new material?
MY SLEEPING KARMA : Not really. We have been talking about recording a lived album, but is just an idea.
We would to thank all the bands for their time, we had such a blast during the show and afterwards! If you happen to be in Germany these days do not miss it! If you want to see real professionals on stage…it’s your chance.
