Nada Surf next week in Helsinki
American alternative rock icons NADA SURF will play next week in Helsinki as a part of their new Moon Mirror Tour 2025. The concert will take place on September 25th in Helsinki at Tavastia.
NADA SURF was formed in New York City in 1992, consisting of Matthew Caws (guitar, vocals), Ira Elliot (drums), and Daniel Lorca (bass, backing vocals). Ingeniously combining catchy pop hooks with emotionally compelling power chords, NADA SURF made their breakthrough to the forefront of alternative music with their debut “High/Low” (1996), from which their breakout single “Popular” has cemented their place among indie rock classics. Over the years, the New York-based band has established itself as an internationally acclaimed live band, and has released numerous critically acclaimed albums, including “Let Go” (2002), “The Weight Is a Gift” (2005) and “The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy” (2012). The most recent, “Moon Mirror”, released in autumn 2024, was listed among the best indie rock albums of its year of release by the prestigious Rolling Stone magazine, among others.
NADA SURF have been described as both an indie rock and «melodic» alternative rock band, with their lyrics characterised as «witty and literate». They have also been classified as part of «nerd rock revival», along with WEEZER, SUPERDRAG, and CAKE. American indie rock duo CLE ELUM will be the opening act for the evening.
