Napalm Death in Helsinki in two weeks
English grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH will play in Helsinki in two weeks with their new «Campaign for Musical Destruction Tour 2026″. The concert will be at the venue Korjaamo (Helsinki) on November 13.
NAPALM DEATH was formed in Meriden, West Midlands, in 1981. The band currently consists of Barney Greenway on vocals, Shane Embury on bass guitar, John Cooke on guitar and Danny Herrera on drums. None of the founding band members remain in the band.
NAPALM DEATH is credited as pioneers of the grindcore genre by incorporating elements of crust punk and death metal, using a noise-filled sound that uses distorted, down-tuned guitars, grinding overdrive bass, high-speed tempo, blast beats, vocals that consist of incomprehensible growls or high-pitched shrieks, extremely short songs, and sociopolitical lyrics. The band has released sixteen studio albums, and as of 2003 are listed by Nielsen SoundScan as the seventh-best-selling death metal band in the United States. According to former vocalist Lee Dorrian, Scum and From Enslavement to Obliteration have sold a combined total of 400,000 copies worldwide. In 2016, the staff of Loudwire named them the 26th best metal band of all time
The supporting bands for the evening will be American death/thrash metal icons MASTER, American powerviolence/grindcore four piece BRAT and Finnish death-grind duo GOATBURNER.
MASTER was formed in Chicago in 1983 by vocalist, bassist and primary songwriter Paul Speckman. Widely recognized as one of the pioneering acts in the early death metal underground, the band’s history spans decades of underground influence, lineup changes, and a relocation to Czechia. Although their self-titled debut album was not released until 1990 due to recording delays, MASTER had already established a strong underground reputation throughout the 1980s. Over the decades, the band has maintained a prolific output, releasing numerous albums while evolving their sound without abandoning their old-school Death Metal roots. Despite frequent line-up changes, Paul Speckmann has remained the band’s driving force and only constant member. Their current lineup is Speckman on bass and vocals, Aleš «Alex 93» Nejezchleba on guitar and Peter Bajči on drums.
BRAT was formed in New Orleans in 2020 by vocalist Liz Selfish and guitarist Brenner Moate. Their musica style is a blend of death metal, powerviolence, thrash, grindcore, and New York hardcore, which the band calls «bimboviolence» (or barbiegrind). While their aesthetic is a deliberate contrast combining Y2K hyper-feminine, pink, and campy glamour visuals with extreme, brutal heavy music. BRAT has released two studio albums: Social Grace and Manslayer. Their lineup is Liz Selfish on vocals, Brenner Moate on guitars, Ian Hennessey on bass, and Dustin Eagan on drums.
GOATBURNER was formed in 2017 by guitarist/vocalist Kaos (Keijo Niinimaa) and drummer Spider (Jaakko Forsman). Both veterans of Finland’s extreme metal underground, with connections to bands including ROTTEN SOUND, RATFACE, SKULMAGOT and MORBID EVILS. Their sound combines the crushing weight of old-school death metal with grindcore ferocity, sludge heaviness and flashes of powerviolence chaos. Their music deliberately embraces a raw, dirty and uncompromising approach, drawing inspiration from genre pioneers such as AUTOPSY, BOLT THROWER, ENTOMBED, CARCASS and CANNIBAL CORPSE. Following their 2018 Time to Burn EP and 2019 debut Extreme Conditions, the band released Fatal in 2023, pushing their sound toward greater speed and intensity.
